SAISA Charleston Intersectional Reg

Summary

Saturday, November 15:

The racing began at 1000hrs adjacnt to the College of Charleston Sailing Center in 7 - 10 kts wind from the NE, flat water, temperature 44 deg. 5 races were sailed before a lunch break. After lunch the wind dropped because of the lee area created by the YORKTOWN aircraft carrier, and the course was moved 1/4 mile to the south on the other side of the marina. This move was accomplished in just under 30 minutes. Good breeze of 4 - 8 kts from the east was found there. At the end of the day 9 races were completed for both A and B fleets.

At the skippers meeting, it was announced that on the water coaching was allowed, which resolves the conflict between the NOR and SI.

The A division sailed FJs, and the B division sailed 420's.

Sunday, November 16:

On Sunday the fleet went onto the race course t 1000hrs in a rainy drizzle and 6 to 8 kts wind from the NE, temperature 48 deg. A happy bunch of high school sailors greeted this cool dreary weather with smiling faces, eager to race their FJ's and 420's. The final 5 races were completed and the fleet returned to the dock at 1145 hrs. The A division sailed 420s, switching boats with the B division which sailed the FJs.

On the dock after boats were put away, the results were announced and awards presented to the top teams and division sailors.

RP Forms were waived for this event, therefore none will be found here on line.

Thanks to the College of Charleston, their fine sailing staff and team members who ran the regatta with expertise.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
