Eighteen teams sailed in NP#3 in Sunbury Georgia on the Medway River. Fifteen full Varsity Teams, two Composite teams, and one team sailing with an 8th grader competed. Teams showed up to a chilly 48 degree temperature with a 7-8 mph breeze. Temperatures rose throughout the day with the high at about 67 degrees. The first race began at 9:20 am and eight races in each division over the course of the day were completed. Sailors started their day in a consistent 10 to 11 mph breeze out of the NE which picked up by the end of the day to 15 to 16 mph. Winds oscillated back and forth between NE and ENE. Higher than normal tides made for a stronger than normal current and challenged the sailors.
Congratulations to Porter Guad who took home top honors, winning the regatta by 7 point over second placed team Beaufort High School.
