MASSA 2015 Keel Boat Qualifier

Summary

Saturday, November 7:

On Saturday November 7th, Annapolis Yacht Club hosted the MASSA Keelboat Championship. The regatta was held in the AYC club owned six J22s and a total of six races were completed as each team rotated through each boat. The day started with no wind as the J22s were towed out to the race area. Upon arriving outside of the Harbor, the breeze filled in at 5-7 knots out of the NNW. Coaches from out-of-town schools, Colin Voigt (Norfolk Academy) and Hunter Farris (Southwestern Central) were provided with RIBs and assisted as the Leeward and Windward Mark boats. A course was set and races commenced at 10:33am. With slight shifts in the direction of the wind, the mark boats did a great job of keeping the course square and of a length comparable to the varying wind speed.

A huge thank you goes out to Fredric Salvensen, Carl Mott, Colin Voigt, Hunter Farris, and Jane Millman for helping with Race Committee. MASSA would also like to thank Annapolis Yacht Club for the generous use of their Club owned J22s for this event. MASSA is proud to send the top two teams, Archbishop Spalding and Annapolis High to compete in the National Keelboat Invitational being held at St Petersberg Yacht Club November 20-22, 2015.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
