Nineteen teams of sailors from across the Midwest arrived to light and variable breeze this morning at 8 am. After the competitor's meeting, sailors launched hoping to get a race off in the little breeze we had, but as the sun came out the breeze died. At 10 am, sailors returned to shore for postponement. After a fantastic pasta lunch, the breeze filled, and A division began their first race at 12:20 pm in a light but steady 3-5 mph. A total of 2 races were sailed today in A division before the breeze died back down. All courses were W/L with an offset and a gate, twice around.
Posted on the official notice board is the following change: First warning for Sunday 10/23 is now 9 am, and last race cut off is extended to 2:30 pm, to allow for more racing in the favorable breeze tomorrow. Thank you to our amazing volunteers for assisting with breakfast, lunch, clean up, and race committee! Your help is very appreciated by all!
Sailors arrived this morning at WBSS and enjoyed a nice breakfast before launching for the 9 am first warning. The breeze clocked north throughout the day, and picked up to about 17 mph, with gusts in the low 20's. The high winds making for great racing, a few capsizes, and breakdowns. One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ. Sailors enjoyed a great bbq pulled chicken lunch with many sides and desserts before going back out for the afternoon. A total of 8 races were sailed in each division. Courses were W/L with an offset and gate, twice around. Congratulations to Oconomowoc for winning the Art Johnson Invitational!
