The regatta was sailed off Memorial Beach on Lake Massapoag under cloudy skies with S-SSW winds of 5-9 MPH. 14 schools participated. Sailors were challenged to pick the correct side of the course and work the relatively subtle shifts and pressure differences. Starters were aggressive, producing several general recalls, but good sportsmanship was evident with only two protests.
Thanks to former Sharon coach, Bob Gaffney, and Sharon assistant coach, Lisa Downey, for a great job of race management.
The top four teams stayed within a few points of each other for most of the day with Fairfield Ludlow finishing fourth, North Kingstown taking third, Sharon in second, and Falmouth (Maine) winning the regatta. Falmouth has previously qualified for the ACC, so the ACC berth for this regatta goes to Sharon.
