Michigan State Singlehanded Championship - Radial

Summary

Sunday, October 23:

Sunny skies and seasonal temperatures greeted the 18 competitors in the 2016 Michigan State Laser Radial Championship. Racing started at 10:29 in a 3-5 knot westerly breeze. Wind increased to 8-12 knots and came from the south at midday, with 1.5 to 2 foot waves. The wind direction remained steady, but faded back to 3-4 knots by the time of the seventh and final race of the day.

Congratulations to our new state champion, Blake Stackpoole from Grosse Pointe South. Congratulations also go to second place finisher, Ben Finkelstein from Forest Hills Central, and third place finisher Liam Walz from Grosse Pointe South. New schools participating in the regatta this year were Black River, Cranbrook Kingswood, Forest Hills Central and South Christian.

A huge thank you to PRO Scott Corder, everyone helping out on the water and land, regatta chair Harold Stackpoole, Scorer Kathy Johnson, MISSA East Rep. Lynn Frikker, and the hospitality team led by Torrey Stackpoole.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
