On a perfect 80 degree, cloudless blue sky September day, 18 teams from 12 schools met at Norfolk Yacht on the Lafayette River. Seas were flat, and 5-10 mph westerly winds gusted to from about 7-14 mph with some mild oscillations midday.
First warning was at 9:10AM. The race committee served up 6 W-4 races in each of two divisions with racing completed by 2:15PM. Norfolk Academy Team 1 ran away with first place with a respectable 28 points. They were followed by Christchurch School Team 1 in second with 51 points. Following closely behind, Hampton Roads Academy won the tie breaker for third place with 58 points against Norfolk Collegiate School Team 2.
