SAISA North Points #1

Summary

Saturday, September 30:

The moderate wind forecast was firmly carved in Jello, which fell apart as soon as the first fleet approached the course. After about 15 minutes of optimistically looking for wind, race committee sent the fleet back to shore. While we couldn’t see exactly what was going on, there appeared to be footballs and frisbees flying, and friendships being forged.

Patience paid off, and by 4:30 the wind progressed down the lake and we were able to get 8 races off before hauling up the anchor at 6:30 pm.

Wind was about 5 knots from the NNE.

Sunday, October 1:

We moved first signal up an hour to 8:30 to give us more opportunity for races following the previous day’s light wind.

Bluebird skies with bright white clouds greater the competitors and their families on Sunday morning. Wind varied between 5-12, shifting steadily from N to NE throughout the day ensuring race committee stayed well engaged.

We ran races consistently from 8:30 to about 2:30, getting in another 24 races, pausing only to adjust the course.

LNYC was pleased to have hosted 15 varsity and 11 JV/Composite teams from as far south as Jacksonville, FL and east to Wrightsville Beach.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
