SAISA North Points #2 (JV/Composite)

Summary

Saturday, October 21:

On Saturday, October 21, more than 120 of the best high school sailors from 14 Varsity and 14 JV teams from NC, SC and GA converged on Jordan Lake near Raleigh for the SAISA NP 2 Regatta.

Arriving sailors were greeted with a brisk, sunny morning, a sporty breeze, and plenty of breakfast goodies. The wind was out of the West, so Race Committee was able to set the course for great viewing from the lakeside bluff.

It was thrilling to see the starting line full of 28 boats jockeying for position in a stiff breeze! These young sailors demonstrated impressive skill with perfectly executed starts, masterful boat handling, and tight roundings at crowded marks. The teams completed 12 races in 9-18 knot winds with oscillating shifts with a minimum of capsizes and protests.

Congratulations to the overall winners!

1st - Lucy Beckham, Charleston SC (with an impressive 8 points across six races in the A division)

2nd - James Island Carter, Charleston SC.

3rd - Academic Magnet, Charleston SC.

The regatta was hosted by the Research Triangle Park High School Sailing Team, the Carolina Sailing Foundation, and Crosswinds Boating Center. Many thanks to the dozens of volunteers who fixed boats, ran the races, cooked many gallons of chili, and worked hard to provide the best regatta experience possible!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
