2024 SAISA Cressy Qualifier ILCA 7

Summary

Saturday, October 19:

After multiple postponements due to the Fall hurricanes that pounded the Florida Peninsula, Key Biscayne Yacht Club stepped up to host SAISA's 2024 Cressy Qualifier before time ran out. The hurricanes were gone, but the wind was not! Day One saw big breeze out of the Northwest around 23-25 knots under warm and sunny skies. Principal Race Officer Todd Fedyszyn with his team from St. Petersburg Yacht Club, as well as a number of local volunteers from the KBYC ILCA Program and a host of Miami-area High Schools ran 7 high-quality Windward-Leeward races just offshore of the club--making for excellent spectating and coaching conditions from shore.

Sunday, October 20:

Day Two saw more of the same Northeast breeze. While the direction held steady, the pressure dropped a bit -to about 17-20 knots- which was welcomed by a sore and tired fleet! All Divisions (Men's ILCA 6 & 7 and Women's ILCA 6) completed an additional 7 Windward-Leward races just to the West of the KBYC docks, reaching the scheduled 14 races with plenty of time to pack up and head for home before it was too late.
