VISA’s first varsity regatta of the new school year welcomed 24 boats from 15 schools who met at Norfolk Yacht on the Lafayette River. Temperatures stayed in the 70s with rain thought out the morning. Seas were flat, winds from the South shifting South, Southeast variable with heavy oscillations at 3-10 knots with gusts barely higher.
Racing on varsity started at 9:27AM. The race committee served up 6 W-4 races in each of the two divisions. A fourth A Division race was completed, however, the accompanying fourth B Division was abandoned due to lack of wind, so race A4 was deleted. Christchurch School Team 1 placed first. They were followed by Hampton Roads Academy team 1 in Second. Following closely behind was Christchurch School Team 2 in third place.
