NJISA 2025 Sailfest Trophy Regatta

Summary

Saturday, September 6:

A new school year of sailing kicked off for NJISA teams at the annual Sailfest Trophy Regatta in Toms River. With the Sailfest street festival and the A Cat race off Island Heights, high school sailors and the PHRF race shared the water in front of TRYC. A southwest wind shifted left to a seabreeze direction and became puffier as the day progressed. With a brief pause for the PHRF start, 12 W4 races were completed before thunderstorms threatened the area around 1500 hours and racing concluded.

Donovan Catholic held off Christian Brothers Academy to win the Sailfest Trophy on a tiebreaker. Donovan won five races to CBA's four races. Toms River South finished as a strong third place. In A Division, CBA's Cole Buczkowski and Christian Diaz edged Donovan's Liam Marcell and Grace Torpey by one point. The finish was flipped in B Division, as Donovan's Cameron Hart and Anna Hnatt beat CBA's Patrick Kennedy and Joseph Borrachia by one point.

Thanks to Brian Hull for serving as the race committee and Dr. Randall Nunn for tending to the course throughout the day. A special thanks to TRYC for welcoming high school sailing back for yet another school year and the BBYRA for continuing to partner with the NJISA on the FJ fleet.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
