The 2025 MASSA Fall Fleet Championship and ACC Qualifier welcomed 18 teams to New Jersey for late October sailing on the Toms River. Temperatures were chilly in the early morning with very light air, but racing got underway with a 4-6 knot northwest wind. As it warmed up, the breeze died completely, causing an hour delay between the end of the first A set and the beginning of the first B set. Luckily, a easterly breeze filled from the ocean at a nice 5-8 knots, allowing the racing to restart around 1230. Ten more W4 races were completed in that breeze by 1700 hours.
The Severn School used a straight bullets B Division day to hold a 19-point lead after the first day of racing. Christian Brothers Academy was solidly in second place, followed by Southern Regional and Christchurch.
One protest was filed and heard, resulting in a DSQ.
Racing is schedule to begin on Sunday after an 830 report time.
Sailors arrived back at TRYC on Sunday morning, greeted with a very light westerly wind. The A Division launched and sailed to the course, but had to wait for the better part of 30 minutes until a stable breeze filled from the northwest. After races 7A and 8A, that breeze died and B Division waited on the water for nearly an hour before an east breeze trickled down the river. The wind bounced around for some time before a course could be set and races 7B & 8B could be sailed. At the conclusion of 8B, racing was called as we approached the 1400 cut-off time.
The Severn School continued its dominant sailing to win the regatta by 30 points. Christian Brothers Academy held off Southern Regional for second place, while Christchurch School was a solid fourth. These four school, plus fifth place Donovan Catholic and sixth place Norfolk Academy, have qualified for the Atlantic Coast Championship on November 8-9 at St. Mary's College.
Thank you to regatta chair and mark boat Dr. Randall Nunn, PRO Dave Magno, RC assistant Tracy Van Dorpe, mark boat Jody Lutz, and US Sailing judges Harry Foote, Pris Gettis and Vince Harris. A special thanks to TRYC for hosting this MASSA championship once again!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
