MDISA Varsity Champs Fall 2025

Summary

Saturday, November 1:

The MDISA Varsity Championship was held on the beautiful St. Mary's River, co-hosted by Leonardtown and Great Mills High Schools. Thirteen teams competed in the FJs across two divisions on a perfect fall day with sunny skies, temperatures in the 60s, and a steady west breeze ranging from 6 to 12 knots. Conditions allowed for 16 races without delay, giving sailors plenty of tactical challenges in the shifting puffs. Spectators enjoyed start and finish line views from the stunning new pier at Chancellor's Point, making the event as enjoyable on shore as on the water. Severn School dominated the regatta winning nearly every race, while Leonardtown edged out Gunston for second place on a head-to-head tiebreaker. Thank you to our hosts, race officials, and volunteers for making this championship a success!
