MISSA Great Lakes Championship

Summary

Saturday, October 25:

Saturday was a warm first day of racing for late October in Chicago, with 60 degree weather and light winds from the east to southeast. Racing was held in the outer harbor of Monroe with I2 and O2 courses. Race Committee ran 6 races for A division and 4 for B division, intending to start with 5B tomorrow morning. The judges committee worked hard into the night hearing a long list of protest hearings, with all scores now updated with any penalties.

Chicago Yacht Club Monroe will host a meeting for all MISSA coaches and interested parties at 7:30am Sunday to discuss schedule changes for 2026-27. All MISSA stakeholders are invited.

Sunday, October 26:

Sunday was a great day of racing in Chicago, showing off great weather and tight racing in the Inner Harbor of Monroe. Race Committee completed. Racing started off with 15kts from the East, tapering down to 8kts by the end of racing. Congratulations to Jones College Prep on winning the event, and New Trier, Arrowhead, and Lake Forest on winning berths to the Atlantic Coast Championship later this fall!

Thank you to PRO Darcy Cook, DRO TJ Hubbs, Chief Judge George Dorsch, and all our other incredible volunteers and staff who made this event possible! And thank you to all the teams and visiting coaches for joining us downtown, we hope to see you again next year!
