RC dock time 1443. Protest and RP entry time limit 1513.
A wonderful first day of the Great Lakes Qualifier regatta for the attending schools in the SW MISSA region. Competitors cruised out on beautiful Lake Michigan out of Wilmette Harbor under sunny and partly cloudy skies. After a short delay due to shifty breeze, racing began around 1030 due east of the harbor. 4 races were completed in both A and B division. Conditions were generally 4-10kt W with occasional gusts to 12kt, minimal chop. Thank you to all who helped with markset and on the RC boat today, including many high school sailors who learned valuable skills on how being the PRO works.
Coaches, please remember to fill out your RP forms as soon as possible as not to penalize your sailors due to RP entry tardiness.

A dreamy day 2 of GL Qualifiers here on Lake Michigan under sunny, cloudless, blue skies. Beginning before first warning due to competitors’ and race committee’s efficiency and excitement to get out after it early, 4 races were completed in both A and B division. Conditions were generally 8-12kt NE in the morning and settled to 6-8kt NE after 1200 and dropped to 4-5kt NE around 1400. To keep racing around 20 minutes/race, the course was shortened by moving the gate to windward before race 8B, shortening legs 2 and 3 of the 4-leg race. Consistent 1-2ft chop from the NNE throughout the day.
Thank you to Joe Nedoss and John Bucciarelli for attentive marksetting, Matt Gallagher for joyful PRO-ing and teaching kids how to help on committee boats, George Dorsch for thoughtful Chief Judge-ing, the panel of judges for being at the ready to resolve protests, all the parents and students helping out on the RC boat this weekend, all the attending sailors, coaches, and parents, and huge thank you to Hyde and Katie at Wilmette Harbor Club for the support and venue.
Congratulations to Jones College Prep (1st), New Trier (2nd), and Saint Ignatius (3rd) for an excellent showing and taking home some hardware. Congrats to these teams + Lake Forest (4th) who have qualified for a berth at Great Lakes Championship regatta on Oct 25-26. Congrats to Walter Payton College Preparatory (5th), Latin School of Chicago (6th), and Loyola Academy (7th) for earning berths to Shepherd Championship on Oct 25-26. Qualifying teams have until 1200 on Tuesday, September 30th, to accept their berths to these events via emailing MISSA President Ted Anderson and OA Katie Tinder to accept their berth to the 10/25-26 events, otherwise their position is forfeited.
And, finally, congrats to all sailors who had the unique and lucky chance to spend time on the water on a September weekend that still felt like summertime. How lucky we are!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
