16 teams enter the icebreaker and Illinois state champs combined regatta this weekend. Sailors were greeted with a light to medium easterly breeze. Temperature barely got above 30° all day, which made for some cold sailors. As the day went on, the breeze decreased to a light easterly. Sailing inside Belmont harbor was challenging for the sailors as they dealt with shifts and velocity changes across the race course. Race committee did a great job getting 7 races in A division and 6 races in B division.
A medium southerly breeze greeted sailors on Sunday morning.The forecast was not looking good. B division started with races 7 and 8. The breeze continue to build througout the morning. Race Committee decided to postpone for an hour to let a front come through. After the rain had past, sailors finished the B rotations to complete racing for the day. Congratulations to Loyola Academy for winning the Icebreaker and Illinois State championships. Latin Finished second and Minnetonka came in third.
