SAISA Girls District JV

Summary

Saturday, March 21:

Very light breeze greeted the 15 teams (4 JV and 11 Varsity) sailing in the 4th SAISA Girls Championship and Intersectional. Portsmouth Abbey was down from NESSA and St. John's Island and Wacamaw were here from the Carolinas. After a postponement ashore the afternoon breeze built from the Northwest and then shifted from there to Southwest and back through the day from 7-14 knots. Many thanks to the race committee volunteers who shuffled marks to keep the windward/leeward course square. 12 races were completed in each division and all the sailors were in by 1800 hours. At the end of the day Pineview and Shorecrest were tied on points.

Sunday, March 22:

Early Sunday a 4 knot breeze from the Northwest allowed for only one race before dying off. After a 1.5 hour delay the breeze filled in from the South up to 11 knots driven by a weak frontal system and racing was back on. Four additional races were completed today in each division before the time limit. Pineview extended their lead in JV to win. Pineview and Shorecrest remained neck and neck in the varsity and were tied on points at the end of the day. Congratulations to the Pineview Pythons, SAISA Girls District Champions for 2015. Shorecrest Preparatory was second and defending champions, St. Thomas Aquinas were third. Many thanks to all of the race committee volunteers, DIYC Dinghy Dames, John Lackey, Regatta Chair, Judy Hanlon, Chief Judge, Todd Fedeszyn, SAISA President, and J A Booker Principle Race Officer.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
