NJISA 2023 Icebreaker Regatta

Summary

Saturday, March 18:

The 2023 NJISA Spring Season got officially underway with the annual Icebreaker Regatta at Toms River Yacht Club. The good news is that the weather was far from freezing and the 16 teams from 10 schools enjoyed temperatures in the low-50s and partly sunny skies. The breeze started from a northwest direction at 8-12 knots, but slowly went more west and remained puffy throughout the day.

Christian Brothers Academy's first team had a consistent day to propel the Colts to a nine-point victory over second place Donovan Catholic. CBA's second team finished in a solid third place, with Summit and CBA's third team finishing fourth and fifth. CBA's Christopher Small and Nicholas Cunha won the A Division, two points ahead of CBA's Bryce Vitiello and Luke Pennisi. CBA's Noah Kuzloski and Kyle Lombardino topped the B Division with Donovan's Kevin Brooksbank and Liam Marcell finishing second.

Thank you to Brian Hull for serving as race committee and Jason Lutz for running the mark boat. As always, thank you to TRYC for having high school sailing back for another season and to the BBYRA for continuing to partner with the NJISA on the FJ fleet.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
