NJISA North Series 1

Summary

Thursday, March 30:

The inaugural NJISA North Series hosted by Summit High School at the Raritan Bay High School Sailing Foundation Waterfront Center was held the afternoon of March 30, 2023 with a 4:30pm start time. Eight distinct high school teams sailed seventeen CFJs provided by Summit High School, Chatham High School, Seton Hall Preparatory School and Delbarton School in the single division event. Sailors, volunteers and coaches were greeted with sunny skies, frigid water and a puffy eight to twelve knot westerly.

PRO Kailey Savacool and mark set patrolman Jeff Bonanni set a lengthy eighteen minute course for the seventeen boat fleet. Sailors battled significant ebb current, wild shifts and fierce competition to complete four course four races and a final course three race under a setting sun. The top three places were tightly contested by Summit High School's Pilar Cundey / Grace Penque, Seton Hall Prep's Drew D'Orsi / Arthur Fok and Voorhees High School's Teddy Martin / Cole Martin. The brother duo from Voorhees triumphed with all top 4 finishes in Voorhees' debut doublehanded regatta.

The athletes and coaches would like to thank the NJISA for its guidance and the parent-led RBHSSF for the innumerable volunteer hours donated to this parent-led organization. Finally, a special thank you to parent-coach Kerry Penque for mastering the scoring program and providing the post-race pizza party.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
