In a Saturday regatta the 11 NESSA teams arrived at Bristol YC to overcast skies and gusty 10-15kts of breeze from the NE with a flat sea. After the skippers meeting, racing got underway quickly sailing a W4 course which allowed for finishes near the rotation docks. Races typically took 12+ minutes.
Unfortunately, due to a collision, boat 8 was damaged but luckily was substituted for boat #1. Also, Dartmouth HS suffered an injury to their "B" fleet skipper, and could not compete further in that division. Given not having a "B" division, they still managed to finish 9th. We were able to get in 14 good races, 7 in each Division, prior to the 1600 deadline.
We would also like to acknowledge all of the competitors and their good sportsmanship. Without fail, as each competitor crossed the finish line they shouted a "Thank You!" to the Finish Boat.
Thank you to all of our volunteers, the 4 jury members, our scoring team, the NESSA rep, Race Committee, and Dean Batcirak who adeptly oversaw the boat swaps making them quick and efficient.
