MASSA Invitational

Summary

Saturday, May 11:

Sailors arrived to light breeze from the northeast and a rising tide covering the landing to the dock. Racing started with a few general recalls due to the current before getting under way. One race was completed before the current overpowered the wind. Another race was attempted after a delay before the wind shifted around.

The current and wind both clocked around. The building breeze allowed for steadier racing and we completed 2 sets for each division.

3 protests will be heard Sunday morning.

Sunday, May 12:

Sailors arrived in the morning to light wind. One boat retired before protests, and one hearing was dismissed. A redress was also withdrawn.

A fleet went out for a start but the race was abandoned. Sailors were sent back in to want ashore for the wind. Racing was called for the day at noon.

Congratulations to Norfolk Collegiate on their first place finish. Thank you to all the sailors, who were patient with difficult wind conditions and a very high tide. Thank you to Dave Clayton, Alan Zametkin, Grayson Wright, Ben Armiger and River Armiger for assisting with marks and race committee.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
