SCC hosted a MDSA varsity regatta on the St. Mary’s River at Chancellor’s Point. The sky was partly cloudy with winds NNW at 12-15 knots and gust to 19 knots with seas less than one foot. The race committee conducted 8 rotations between two fleets. The windward/leeward race course included offset and gates. For the first 4 rotations the wind was fairly steady out of the north. As the day progressed, the wind shifts grew to +/-15 degrees creating more challenging upwind tactics selections. The beach rotations proved challenging at first since the NNW wind drove the boats directly back to the beach. All sailors quickly learned how to sail their boats off a lee shore with ease. Many thanks to the volunteers in three RHIB safety boats keeping a close eye on the sailors while setting a great course. The shore volunteers provided fresh snacks for the sailors, directed boat rotations, and ensured the food truck by Grizzly Mountain Grill arrived on time and kept the hungry sailors fed. We hope everybody enjoyed a great day of sailing in Southern Maryland.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
