NJISA 2024 Spring Open Regatta

Summary

Saturday, April 6:

The NJISA Spring Open Regatta featured 10 teams from eight schools on a puffy day in Toms River. The northwest-west wind went up and down in velocity during the day, seeing early peaks in the high teens but settling into the 10-12 knot range for much of the afternoon. Fourteen total races were completed by 1630, nine LA2 and three WA2 courses.

It was a closely contested regatta between the top three teams of Donovan Catholic, Christian Brothers and Southern Regional. Donovan used three straight A Division race wins to squeak out a one-point victory over CBA, while Southern was just one point behind CBA. Donovan's James Kopack and Caroline Felser topped A Division, while CBA's Jules Buczkowski and Luke Pennisi won B Division.

Thanks to Dave Magno for serving as PRO, Jody Lutz for running the mark boat, and Sean Crabb and Mike Buczkowski for assisting on the water at times. Thank you as always to TRYC and BBYRA for the use of the facility and fleet.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
