Competitors from across Washington and Oregon made the trek to Vashon Island's Dockton Park for Ranking Regatta #3. Saturday was a glorious day for racing. After a couple of ferry hiccups, the first warning was sounded at 1120 in an already brisk northerly. The breeze built from 8-10 knots to 13-14 knots by mid-day, before backing off to 3-4 knots for the final race of the day. Big puffs, oscillations, and a couple of anchored boats (aka obstructions) made for very dynamic racing. The markset team did a great job keeping up with changes in the breeze. Every race but one clocked in between 15-20 minutes, with more than half clocking in at 17-18 minutes. The decision was made to extend racing on Saturday. Competitors reached the shore around 1800. Group camping and dinner on Saturday night were a big success. Many thanks to all of the Narrows/Gig Harbor Junior Sailing parents and volunteers for pulling off the huge undertaking of feeding/accommodating 300+ sailors, parents, and coaches.
After breaking camp, competitors trickled down to the venue at Dockton Park to find sunshine and glassy water. At 945 AP was raised to signal an on shore postponement. Around 1045 a light northerly began filling and RC left the dock to investigate. AP was soon lowered and a course was set in anticipation of more pressure coming down. Unfortunately, the breeze line had retreated by the time competitors were to the course and we entered an on-water postponement. After about 20 minutes the breeze began building again. Finally, around 1130, race 7B was started in a 3-4 knot northerly. Breeze built for the middle races topping out at 7-8 knots by the time A fleet was back on the water. We leveled up B Fleet in a dying northerly of 3-4 knots around 1430. After completing 10 races in each fleet, the decision was made to call the regatta. Kudos to all competitors on a great weekend of sailing and a huge thanks once again to all of the volunteers who made it happen!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
