Back in Norfolk for the first regatta of the 2024 Spring season, twelve teams representing ten area schools came together on the Lafayette River with drizzle starting around 10:30AM and a high of 55 degrees F. Race committee (and sailors) were very relieved that the forecast of downpours and gusts in the 40's didn't pan out. Winds were SE to E variable 7 to 15 mph with minor oscillations and gusts reaching into the high teens. Seas were just a bit lumpy.
Sailors were on the water at about 9 with first warning at 9:30AM. Eight combined division W-4 races were completed by 12:40PM.
Hampton Roads Academy Team 1 took first place with three bullets in A division and one in B. They were followed by Christchurch School with an impressive four bullets in first place. Third place was captured by Hampton Roads Academy Team 2.
Two requests for redress were heard and granted; failed attachments of a jib halyard block to the mast, and a mainsheet block that pulled out of the centerboard trunk cap.
Thanks to the race committee for running the regatta while enduring the cold, wet conditions, especially Colleen Baumann who served as PRO.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
