Eleven team representing 10 schools arrived at Mill Creek to find temps in the mid 50's and drizzling rain. Throughout the day the temperature rose to barely over 60 degrees, and the rain waxed and waned. Wind was initially 8-10 mph SSE and built to the mid teens, while clocking slightly to due E. Gusts ran about 5 mph higher than sustained winds. Seas were flat.
In these cold wet conditions, sailors completed 6 W-4 races in in each division with smiles on their faces. Meanwhile on land some B sailors enjoyed some shenanigans by "soaping" the wet slide and zooming down into the mulch with their drysuits. We ended sailing a bit early at 1:30 so that all involved could warm up.
We had two protest hearings resulting in 2 DSQ's. For the final results, Maury took first place, Norfolk Collegiate followed in second, and Hampton Roads Academy Team 1 finished in third place.
Many thanks to the race committee, especially the Goodwin family who were kind enough to spend the entire event on the water in open boats in raw conditions. Keith served as PRO, Susan scored and Blake filled in to coach his sister's team. Thanks also goes to Charlie Brewer and Gary Bodie who endured just that much more cold to hear the protests while everyone else was drying off and warming up.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
