Happy Mother's Day and what a difference a day makes! The weather for the NESSA Herreshoff Qualifier hosted at UConn Avery Point in Groton, CT was a shifty and gusty NW to NE wind that started around 10 mph but ramped up to 15-20 gusting 25+ by the final set of races for both A and B Division. Ultimately, both divisions saw 8 races in FJs with only two capsizes until the final B Division race. Of note, two Hotchkiss sailors offered to go back out on the water to assist with the righting of a capsized boat. Kudos to Saoirse Taylor and Charlotte Cundy! Only one protest was filed, heard, and upheld. There was very close racing at the top of the fleet for the coveted 4 spots at this qualifying site to move onto the Herreshoff Trophy to be held at Sail Maine on May 18th. CONGRATULATIONS to Hotchkiss (31), Greenwich Academy (37), Darien HS (67), and Fairfield Ludlow (71) who just edged out Greenwich Country Day School (72). Once again a huge thank you to the volunteers who ran the starts, scored the finishes, moved marks all day, and stood by or assisted with the capsizes (Some of whom also volunteered at yesterday's O'Day Qualifier held at UConn Avery Point): Liz Sistare, Sarah McCart, Frank Murphy, Jamie Rice, Bob LaFrance, and Harlan Fredreksen.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
