VISA Christchurch Parents Weekend Fleet Regatta

Summary

Saturday, April 12:

The rain cleared just as we arrived at the Rappahannock River in overcast blustery damp weather barely reaching over 50 degrees F. The water was a cool 55 degrees. Winds were initially high single digits/low teens with gusts into the high teens from the NNW oscillating N and back. Winds increased to mid teens after noon an then dropped to single digits holding steady from NNW. Seas were about 1 foot, sometimes breaking over the bow of the committee Carolina Skiff.

Fourteen teams from 5 schools competed on a W-4 course, completing 6 races in each division in 420's. Hampton Roads Academy Team 3 initially finished with three bullets, a 2, and a 3 however, these they were scored DSQ in these races because the skipper previously sailed in A division.

Final results placed Christchurch School Team 1 in first with 23 points, followed by Christchurch School Team 3 in second place with 40 points, and Christchurch School Team 2 in third place with 50 points.

Thanks once again to Alex Jacob for serving as PRO and running a tight course. Thanks also goes to the Christchurch community for rolling out the welcome mat to VISA.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
