Corpus Christi Spring National Invitational

Summary

Sunday, March 1:

The weather was a beautiful sunny day again Sunday, as it was Friday and Saturday. After a competitor meeting at 0900, harbor start was on time, as was the first start. Wind was 8-10 kts from the SE. The course was set in the bay, windward-leeward, waves 1-2 ft. Air temp was mid-70's, water the same. After four races the sailors were sent in for lunch at the dock at 1145. Dave gave a chalk talk during lunch to address sailing on the morning race course. 1230 we were back on the water, this time the course set inside the breakwater for a change of conditions. Wind was 13-14 kts, SE, flat water. Four more races run in these conditions gave everyone a good sampling of our typical Corpus Christi conditions, and Dave Perry a chance to jump in a 420 for one race. He was so excited about the great sailing that he had to give it a shot! All eight races were completed by 1423. After putting equipment away and cleaning up, we had a great parting meeting, signed Tactics books from Dave presented to each high school team. There were plenty of sailors asking about doing this clinic next year.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
