For 9 teams from 5 schools, an absolutely beautiful day with clear skys on the Rappahannock River, and the air temps reaching 70 degrees F, presented sailors less than ideal sailing conditions. An initial lull delayed starting the racing, but a reasonable 7mph breeze filled in shortly from the west and the regatta was able to click through an initial 12 digital N races. A series of significant oscillations and lulls led to a 3 hour series of course changes and postponements. Sailors were on the water, somewhat baked, but good spirited during the dead calm. Eventually the wind filled in from the west at a steady 7-10mph. With only 1.3 hours left before the no start after time at 3:00, the decision was made to only complete the races involving the Team 1's from each school. After sailing an additional 8 races and carrying over scores from races sailed, a round of 5 teams was completed for regatta. Scores for 9 races that involved second to fourth teams were deleted along with the initial round of 9 teams.
Christchurch School wone the regatta with a 4-0 record. Norfolk Collegiate followed in second with a 3-1 record. Norfolk Academy took third with a 2-2 record.
Greatest thanks are extended to the Christchurch community for hosting and to the the Race committee, especially Michael Schmidt and AJ Pucillo who served as PRO.
