VISA Kecoughtan Fleet Race Regatta

Summary

Saturday, March 14:

Blue skies and cool air reaching 60 degrees F. greeted sailors on Mill Creek. Winds were initially in the upper single digits, dropping to unsailable in the early afternoon. Significant ossicilations midday resulted in a frustrating array of course abandonment, and changes. This resulted in a postponement on the water while the wind clocked to northwesterly and settled at a strong 8mph for the last solid race.

Fourteen teams represented 8 schools at the regatta. Teams were able to complete 7 W-4 races in each division. Christchurch School Team 1 took first place with 6 bullets and 35 points. Second place went to Norfolk Academy Team 1 with 2 bullets and 42 points. In third place, Norfolk academy finished with 3 bullets and 50 points.

Gratitude is extended to the volunteers who made the event possible, especially PRO Alan Mason and essential jack-of-all trades, Melissa Green.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
