Thirteen teams were greeted by cool fall temperatures and a brisk 12-15mph NE wind at Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club. Regatta Organizer John Garth did his morning stand-up routine reviewing the SI's and recruiting for Monmouth University and then sent the teams out on the water where the first race started around 1030 hrs. Teams sailed the first set of W4 races in gusty 12-17 mph wind which fell off to 5mph before beginning to oscillate back and forth from NW to SE for the remainder of the day. Teams continued to sail another three W4 races in each division until competition ended while attempting to get race B6 completed and the fleet was becalmed.
Five races were completed each division resulting in a tie for first between Christian Brothers Academy Colts and Toms River North Mariners with 32 points each, with both their A & B divisions tying as well; the tie-breaker went to CBA. Southern Regional finished in third and Rumson-Fair Haven in fourth. These four teams qualified to advance to the MASSA Fall Fleet Championships in Norfolk, VA next weekend. The next four teams: Summit, Donovan Catholic, Chatham and Toms River South qualified to advance to the MASSA Fall Fleet Championship at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA.
PRO John Barbano and RC committee Jordan Murphy kept races going as best as possible as the conditions were constantly changing. Many thanks to mark boats staffed by Dave Magno, Georgi & Peter Munger and Mike & Ethan Neubelt for their great job chasing the wind around the river and keeping the course square in a timely manner. US Sailing Judges Harry Foote and Jeff Jacobi served as the on the water judges and protest committee, and thankfully, had little to attend to at the end of the day.
As always, thank you to SSYC for hosting the event with their usual "make yourself at home" hospitality and to Monmouth University for the use of their fleet of FJ's. Best of luck to the teams advancing on to the MASSA District Championships!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
