Saturday brought beautiful sailing conditions for the 23 teams competing in the 2016 Fall Scramble at Pewaukee YC. With breeze at 15-25 out of the west, sailors were provided a rare opportunity to sail in sizable waves on Pewaukee Lake. Thank you to the Kettle Moraine HS for providing a hearty breakfast and to Oconomowoc HS for their wonderful lunch. Thank you, also, to the coaches and safety crews who helped with the many capsized boats during the two and a half sets of the day. Myles Murphy, captain of the breakdown boat, did a great job helping teams get back to racing.
Sunday saw much lighter conditions than the previous day of racing; the sailors arrived at PYC to see a glassy lake. Eventually the breeze filled and B Division was able to complete two races. The A Division tried for another race but the breeze died, then filled, then shifted, then died. The RC called off racing at 13:30. PRO for the event was PJ Friend. There were several breakdown hearings and protest hearings following racing. Two teams were awarded breakdown points for races 1A and 4A.
Colleen Baumann and Cristine Giovanna Boffa of University of Chicago Lab claimed 1st Place in the A Division with an average finish of 3.67.
Harry Melges and crews Christian and Evan Karabas of Big Foot HS took the B Division title, winning 4 of their 6 races.
Oshkosh North 1 (A: Tommy Rorrer/Eddie Hanson, B: Reed Weston/Karson Mraz) finished in 1st Overall for the event.
Thank you to a top-notch RC team for putting on many great races despite challenging conditions. Special thanks to the teams who brought 420s and coach boats for the event!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
