Banks Blackwell Invitational Regatta

Summary

Saturday, September 22:

The regatta started with partly sunny conditions, 60 degrees, and a delay at 0930 due to shifty, gusting 10-12 kt winds that would not stabilize to set a course. Racing started with 17 boats on the line at 1018 in a 8 kt NE breeze that slowly diminished to 3-5 kts by the end of racing at 1615. Lunch was BBQ and served to sailors between rotations, with plenty to eat for all. 11 races were completed Saturday. The racing was close, with the fleet staying competitive from start to finish. Races averaged 20-25 minutes. Later that evening teams shared a beach bonfire and had a chance to meet each other.

Sunday, September 23:

The day dawned cool and clear with a 6-8 kt NE breeze that held for the day. Racing started where we left off Saturday, and then RC finished another complete rotation. Total races were 8 each for A and B divisions, totaling 16. After another BBQ lunch awards were presented. Teams then hit the road for home by 1400. Thank you to all the sailors and support folks for a great regatta, see you this spring for the Culver Spring Regatta!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
