Twelve New Jersey schools, making up 15 total teams, took part in the 2018 Sailfest Regatta to open the new season. Two new teams joined the fleet for the first time, MAST and Henry Hudson.
Sailors arrived at TRYC in a constant drizzle and with light northeast breeze. The wind, while shifty, picked up to a pleasant 8-12 knots, allowing nice sailing across the fleet. Six W4 races and six W3 races were sailed, with the W3 races finishing near the dock to facilitate quick rotations.
Ranney School and Rumson-Fair Haven were locked in a battle for the lead for most of the day. In the end, Ranney used four-straight race wins to lock up the Sailfest Trophy for the second year in a row. RFH finished second and third, while Southern Regional was fourth and Toms River North was fifth. Ranney won the A division, while RFH took the B division.
Thank you to Dr. Randy Nunn for serving as PRO and Dave Magno for running the mark and patrol boat. The NJISA would like to also thank TRYC and OCC for supporting high school sailing for yet another new season.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
