Saturday dawned with a chance of rain and storms throughout the day, but 10 teams (plus a second team from St. Mary's Ryken) showed up ready to sail the first JV event of the fall 2018 racing season. After a 10:00 skipper's meeting, including some good review of race committee signal flags, sailors got on the water for the first start around 10:45. A fairly steady northeasterly stayed in place all day, allowing the crash boats full of volunteers to focus on assisting capsized boats, of which there were many as the breeze picked up in the afternoon! Five races were run in each division before sailors were sent in to derig around 2:45. Congratulations to the Northeast Road Warriors for eking out a slim victory over the Severn Admirals, both of whom were well clear of the rest of the field. One protest was filed under Rule 2, Fair Sailing, but was settled between teams before going to the room, providing a good lesson in sportsmanship for those involved. Many thanks to all who made the event possible, including PRO Russ Miller, scoring officials Curt and Dottie Hamilton, and many volunteers, both parents and varsity sailors, on the snack table, RC boat, and safety boats.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
