NJISA 2019 Sailfest Regatta

Summary

Saturday, September 7:

The 2019 NJISA fall season got underway on Saturday with the annual Sailfest Regatta at Toms River Yacht Club. Eleven schools, making up 17 teams, experienced a beautiful late summer day with temperatures in the 70s and breeze from the northwest at 8 to 12 knots.

Twelve W4 races were completed on the day, with a midday postponement to make way for the Auxiliary Sailfest Race start off the TRYC dock.

Rumson-Fair Haven, sailing the day under "Pirates 1" due to late registration, won the day by two points over Southern Regional, with both teams jockeying for the Sailfest perpetual trophy throughout the day. Christian Brothers Academy was nine points out in third place. Toms River North and Ranney rounded out the top-five.

Southern won three A division races to win that division, while RFH won three B division races to take the top spot in B.

A brief scoring interruption, in part due to the late registered teams not being in Techscore, delayed the final scores from being posted. The scores should now reflect the accurate finishes for those teams. Three teams were penalized for not properly completing their RP by 1700 hours on Sunday.

Mr. Dave Magno served as the RC officer for the day with Jason Lutz manning the mark boat. Many thanks to TRYC for having the NJISA back for another school year and to OCC for use of the 420 fleet.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
