Regatta Summary SAISA North Points #1 JV/Composite Oct. 12, 2019

A great regatta to kickoff the fall 2019 North Points season. A regatta record sixteen varsity and five JV teams from NC, SC and GA competed in the SAISA North Points #1 regatta at Cross Winds Boating Center on the beautiful inland venue on Lake Jordan. Twelve races were completed in 6-10 knots breezes out of the Southwest with 10-15 with moderate shifts. The racing was extremely tight on the WL twice around course, with excellent starts, highly competitive upwind legs, tight mark roundings and many close finishes. The velocity changes along with 10-15 degree oscillating shifts, put a premium on boat speed and upwind tactics. Cape Fear Academy (Wilmington NC) sailed very strong winning A division and finishing 5th in B to take the overall trophy. John Paul II (Beaufort, SC) came on strong at the end winning B division and finished 2nd overall. Porter-Gaud (Charleston SC) held the lead most of the day, but dropped back to third in the final two races. James Island (Charleston) finished 4th and Beaufort (SC) finished 5th overall. Onshore The RTP HS Program always rolls out the red carpet with hot dog and chili lunch provided during racing and a fun dinner after the racing on Saturday.
