VISA JV Leukemia Cup Regatta

Summary

Saturday, October 5:

Sixteen teams from seven area schools met on Mill Creek in blustery ENE winds of 8-10mph with gusts to 18mph exhibiting only minor oscillations. Periodic whitecaps were present in the morning giving way to gusts just under 15 by the noon lunch break. Seas were relatively flat in the perfectly protected sailing venue, with only minor chop. Skies were partly cloudy with the sun breaking through at times.

Sailors completed 11 15-20 min. races on a w-4 course in one division. There were plenty of capsizes on the downwind during the morning hours, and we are very grateful for our safety boats.

First place goes to Norfolk Academy Team 1, followed by Walsingham Team 1 in second place and Poquoson Team 2 in third place.

Out thanks to Alan Bomar for running another great event.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
