NJISA 2020 Fall Classic Regatta

Summary

Saturday, October 10:

Twelve NJISA high school sailing teams, making up sixteen total teams, arrived at TRYC for the NJISA Fall Classic Regatta. Under party cloudy skies and seasonable temperatures in the mid-to-high 60°s, a nice southwesterly breeze of 8-12 knots provided great sailing conditions for the day.

Both A and B Division fleets were on the water the same time using the OCC 420s and BBYRA FJs, which allowed the RC to run back-to-back races at a relatively quick pace. A total 22 of races W4 races were completed for the day.

Congratulations to the Toms River North Mariners for their first place standing with a total of 60 points for the day. The Ranney Panthers Team 1 finished in second place with 77 points and the CBA Colts Team 1 came in third place with 88 points.

The top three A Division finishing schools were Toms River North, the Ranney Panthers Team 1 and CBA Colts Team 3.

The top three B Division finishing schools were Tom River North, the Donovan Griffins and the CBA Colts Team 1.

Thanks go out to the Schmelz family for the use of their RIB as the mark boat, Dave Magno for his engineering standards keeping the course square and Jason Lutz for managing TechScore and keeping the scores updated. As always, thank you to OCC for the use of their 420 fleet, BBYRA for the FJs and Toms River Yacht Club for the use of their facilities and ongoing support of NJISA high school sailing.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
