The Fall Funfest (Gleekman trophy) saw a cloudy day with good racing conditions. The wind was easterly with shifts of 15 degrees either way at about 8 to 12 MPH. In the first half of the day, the race committee was busy moving the windward marks to keep the course square, but the wind settled down in the afternoon. Seven races were held in each division.
As has been the case for all the fall regattas it was a tough field with Lincoln Academy and Barrington making top three showing in all three, and St. George’s and Milton Academy in the top four as they were in the Arnold Brown. St George’s was knocked out of first place by the day’s only protest in the last race to finish second to Lincoln Academy by one point and winning a tie breaker over Barrington. NESSA awarded tee shirts to the top three teams.
Specials thanks to Larry Lovett, the Wellesley head coach, for manning the signal boat all day and to Matt Johnson the Sharon JV coach who worked the mark boat.
