MDISA Keelboat Qualifier @ Annapolis Yacht Club

In honor and celebration of Veteran's Day: The State of MARYLAND's MDISA League held a one day Keelboat Qualifier on Thursday, November 11th, 2021. St. Mary's High School co-hosted the Championship with the Annapolis Yacht Club in their Fleet of J22s. Five teams from MDISA League competed for the top 3 qualifying spots. Team weigh in, rigging of the boats, and dock call was approximately around 1:00 PM and Harbor Start was at 1:30 PM. Racing was postponed at 2:00 PM for a short 45 minutes and then the first race commenced around 2:48 PM. The Race Committee completed 5 races in a short 2 hours. Winds ranged from 4-6 knots throughout the Championship with temperatures in the mid 60s and lower 70s. Congratulations to the top three schools for qualifying for the 2021 Fall MASSA Keelboat Championship hosted by Annapolis Yacht Club on November 19-20th, 2021. Scores were very tight and the top three teams were only separated by 1 point! A big congratulations goes out Broadneck High School for winning the 2021 MDISA Keelboat Qualifier Championship title!

St. Mary's School would like to thank the Annapolis Yacht Club's Waterfront Staff (Dockmasters, Race Management Team, and Jr. Fleet Staff) for hosting the event in their club's Fleet of J22s. A special thanks to our chief scorer Madeline Vachon, AYC Junior Fleet Assistant Director and our High School Race Committee Volunteers (Annie Lapides - Annapolis HS Class of 2025 and Daphne Walsh - St. Mary's Class of 2027).
