NJISA 2022 Toms River Autumn Challenge

Summary

Saturday, October 22:

On a warm October day, 17 teams from 11 schools participated in the 2022 Toms River Autumn Challenge. The warmth halted the breeze for a bit, until a southeast wind began to fill at 11:30. Sailors launched and the first race started around 12:15, with the breeze oscillating between 5-7 knots. Ten W4 races were completed by the cutoff time of 15:30.

Christian Brothers Academy's second team sailed a consistent and error-free day to top the standings. The Colts' first team battled back from an early OCS to finish second, squeaking past Southern Regional who also recorded an OCS. Delbarton and Toms River North completed the top five on the day.

The A division was won by CBA first team's Christopher Small and Kyle Lombardino, edging CBA second team's Bryce Vitiello and Luke Pennisi. Southern Regional's Belle Placa and Erin Little won B division by five points over CBA second team's Mitchell Hnatt and Ryan Mullholland.

Many thanks to Point Pleasant Beach's Rick Pokorny and Will Zylinski for stepping in on short notice to run the races and manage the course. As always, a thank you to TRYC for hosting us and the BBYRA for supplying the FJ fleet.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
