NJISA 2022 Sailfest Regatta

Summary

Saturday, September 10:

The 2022 NJISA fall sailing season got underway with the annual Sailfest Regatta at Toms River Yacht Club. Eighteen teams from 13 schools came out for the season opener, which saw beautiful 75 degree weather and sunny skies. Racing was postponed for one hour while the fleet waited for the breeze to fill in. All 10 W4 races were sailed in a shifty east-southeast breeze that ranged from 4-10 knots.

Donovan Catholic showed no signs of rust, winning seven of the 10 races, to cruise to a 23-point victory. Christian Brothers Academy was a solid second place, while Pingry, Summit, and Toms River North rounded out the top five. Donovan's James Kopack and Caroline Felser won the A Division, while Donovan's Kevin Brooksbank and Nora Ciak topped B Division.

Thanks to Donovan's Brian Hull for serving as the PRO and CBA's Jason Lutz for running the mark boat. Thank you to TRYC for welcoming high school sailing back for another season and to the BBYRA for continuing the partnership with the FJ fleet.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
