MDISA DC Sail T1 Fleet Race

Summary

Saturday, September 20:

The wind started off shifty, but with good pressure, predominantly ESE. It ranged from 5-10 kts steady throughout the day, gusting up to 15 kts. Despite a crew regatta taking place on the same day, sailboats were able to set up on the north side of the Anacostia River, east of Fredrick Douglass Mem. Bridge for a W4 course averaging 20-minute races.

Racing began at 10:00. After an initial General Recall for 1A and a course adjustment after a significant wind shift, races were able to continue for the rest of the day with minor course adjustments. Around 14:00, after a nearby rainstorm passed East of DC, the wind died down to 3-4 kts for race 6B. But RC was able to hold B fleet out for a third race in their final set, finishing off the day with one race in A fleet and better breeze for both fleets' seventh race.

Thanks to all competitors for making it to DC. A big thank you to all the coaches who assisted with hearing protests. And thank you, as always, to RC and the shore crew for keeping things running smoothly.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
