2026 MISSA Girls Championship

Summary

Saturday, September 19:

11 teams were greeted with cloudy skies and very light winds in Columbus for the 2026 Girls Champs. After a brief postponement on shore, racing began around 10am. Racing continued until the rains came and with that, a clap of thunder ended our day right at 4pm after 6A was completed. Our Race Committee chased the winds around every race moving marks between most of the sets, never from the same direction twice!

3 protests were filed resulting in 1 DSQ and 1 TBD tomorrow morning. Racing will commence with 5B first thing in the morning.

Sunday, September 20:

The day started with no breeze… then the rains came. And more and more rain. And no wind. And more rain.

The regatta is currently under postponement with more rain and storms coming. And no wind.

1230 update: After watching the rain kill whatever breeze there may have been and watching the next line of storms move towards us, the regatta has been concluded. Congrats to Minnetonka, Lake Forest, Marian and St. Ignatius (ILL) for qualifying for the Girls National Invitational next month.

Many hands make light work: thanks to our Race Committee and Jamie Jones for keeping the racing going on Saturday, our kitchen crew of Kate, Steve, Jeff and Sean for feeding the masses… and especially Sean for single-handedly feeding us Sunday with an amazing pasta bake for 65! Finally thanks to all of the sailors who exhibited amazing sportsmanship and friendship both on and off the water.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
