MDISA's Fall 2026 - T1 "Fall Frolic" hosted by ANNAPOLIS YACHT CLUB:
The Annapolis Yacht Club's High School Program held a one-day Fleet Race Regatta for the MDISA District - Tier 1 varsity sailors. St. Mary's High School (MD), Severna Park, Key School, and Indian Creek co-hosted the Regatta with the Annapolis Yacht Club in their Fleet of collegiate style 420s. 16 teams from the MDISA District competed for the top 3 spots at this year's "Fall Frolic" Fleet Race Regatta. Rigging of the boats and dock call/report time was approximately around 0915 hours and Harbor Start was around 1000 hours. Sailors roll tacked their way upwind through the Annapolis Harbor to the signal boat anchored just north of the Green can off of the Docks of SSA. The first race commenced at 1047 hours. The Race Committee completed 5 races per division however the 5th race for both A & B Divisions ended up getting thrown out due to the Time Limit Expiring for this year's AYC's "Fall Frolic" T-1 Fleet Race Regatta. Winds ranged from 7.2 knots to 9.8 knots in the morning then died to 4-7 knots by the afternoon with temperatures in the mid-80s. Signal Boat Docking Time was 1434 hours.
The Key School Zags dominated the event by winning both A & B Divisions with an overall 12 point lead! Gunston School Herons and Severen School Admirals battled it out for 2nd and 3rd place spots, points were close! Congratulations to the top 3 schools!
St. Mary's High School (MD), Severna Park, Key School, and AYC Combo would like to thank the Severn Sailing Association for their unwavering support in allowing AYC Jr. Sailing to complete our High School Regatta rotations in the Basin and using their Bulkhead areas for Coaching Base Camp. We would also like Annapolis Yacht Club's Junior Fleet Staff (Land Operations - Coach Daniel O'Farrill, Signal Boat PRO/Scorer - Bobby Lippincott for hosting the event in their club's Fleet of 420s. Thank you to all teams for traveling so far to compete in this year's one day AYC Fleet Race.
