Twelve teams descended on Toms River Yacht Club for the 2026 NJISA Fall Fleet Championship. A cool, northeast breeze gave sailors a shifty challenge on the race course. A total of 16 races were sailed, split between W4 and W3 courses.
Southern Regional took an early lead and never looked back, winning the fall title with 33 points. Christian Brothers Academy finished solidly in second place with 48 points. Donovan Catholic (85 points) and Ranney (89 points) took third and fourth.
Southern's Jude Ryon, Sergio Santos and Evan Colon won A Division by two points over CBA's Cole Buczkowski and Edward Solodiky. Southern's Gannon Botwinick, Ella Linkewich and Santos topped B Division in convincing fashion.
The top four teams will qualify for the MASSA Fleet Race District Championship on October 24-25 in Buffalo, New York. The next four teams - Wall, Toms River South, Point Beach and Chatham - will qualify for the MASSA Invitational at Washington College on October 31-November 1.
One protest was filed and resulted in a DSQ.
Thanks to Dave Magno for serving as PRO, Tracy Van Dorpe and Mike Buczkowski for assisting on the RC, Jody Lutz for tending to the course, and Vince Harris for hearing protests as our US Sailing judge. A big thanks to TRYC for hosting us and the BBYRA for partnering with us on the FJ fleet.
Racing was completed on Saturday.
