The 2026 NJISA Sailfest Regatta brought 11 schools, making up 14 teams, to Toms River Yacht Club on Saturday, September 12 for the opening day of New Jersey high school sailing. Despite a short delay to wait for the breeze and shifty east-southeast conditions, seven W4 races were completed in each division.
Southern Regional High School delivered a commanding performance, winning the regatta with 24 points. The Rams finished first in both divisions, scoring 16 points in A Division and just eight points in B Division. A-Division skipper Jude Ryon sailed with crews Sergio Santos and Evan Colon, while Gannon Botwinick and Ella Linkewich dominated B Division with six victories in seven races.
Donovan Catholic finished second overall with 60 points. Christian Brothers Academy’s Colts 1 team placed third overall with 63 points, only three points behind Donovan Catholic.
CBA Colts 2 finished fourth, followed by newcomer Wall High School in fifth.
Brian Hull of Donovan Catholic served as PRO, while Jody Lutz staffed the mark boat and helped keep the course aligned as the breeze changed.
Congratulations to Southern Regional and all who helped make the 2026 Sailfest Regatta a successful day of high school sailing on the Toms River. A special thanks to TRYC for welcoming us back for another year and to the BBYRA for supporting us with the FJ fleet.
